A study conducted by researchers at the Wolfson Gastrointestinal Laboratory in Edinburgh, Scotland on the therapeutic value of carrots, revealed that if seven ounces of raw carrots per day are consumed for three weeks then cholesterol level drops by an average of 11%.

Another study conducted by a group of Swedish scientists said that carrots are helpful in reducing the chances of heart attack.
Study at the Mario Negri Institute For Pharmacological Research, Italy discovered that those who consume carrots had a one-third risk of heart attack as compared to those who consume fewer carrots.

Carrots contain rich amount of potassium. Potassium is a vasodilator. Vasodilation refers to the widening of blood vessels. It results from relaxation of smooth muscle cells within the vessel walls, in particular in the large veins (called venodilators), large arteries, and smaller arterioles. The process is the opposite of vasoconstriction, which is the narrowing of blood vessels.
Potassium in carrot can relax the tension in your blood vessels and arteries. It increases the blood flow and circulation which boost organ function throughout the body and reduces the stress on the cardiovascular system. High blood pressure may lead to strokes, heart attacks and atherosclerosis. The coumarin present in carrot also helps in reducing hypertension and protects the heart health!
Carrot contains Beta-carotene. Consumption of Beta-carotene reduces the risk of several cancers. It protects against lung cancer. British researchers found that increased consumption of beta-carotene from 1.7 to 2.7 milligrams per day reduced the risk of lung cancer by more than 40%. Carrot (an average) contains about 3 milligrams of beta-carotene.
A study conducted by researchers found that carrots reduced the risk of colon cancer by as much as 24% as they contain fiber. Other study revealed that women who ate raw carrots were 5 to 8 times less likely to develop breastfeeding cancer than those who didn't.

Carrots contains loads of vitamin A. Vitamin A is good and required for vision. Deficiency of this vitamin can cause difficulty in seeing in dim light. It can cause night blindness. Vitamin A present in carrot improves eyesight and prevent the deficiency due to which night blindness can occur.

Macular degeneration is the condition in which elderly person that impairs the function of the macula. It is common eye disease in which eyesight becomes weak. Research said that people who included the most amount of beta-carotene in their diet had a 40% lower risk of macular degeneration compared to those who consumed the least. Through an enzymatic reaction, Beta-carotene has the capability to split itself to form pro-vitamin A. Pro-Vitamin A is associated with antioxidant capacity linked with vision. So, overall if you want to keep your eyesight and vision good, then consume carrots.

As already mentioned above, carrots are good for heart health. Carrots, when consumed everyday reduces the risk of stroke by 68%. A study conducted on stroke patients found that those with the highest levels of beta-carotene had the highest levels of beta-carotene had the highest survival rate.

Carrots control blood sugar levels. Carotenoids are present in carrots that helps in blood sugar regulation. Carotenoids inversely affect insulin resistance lowering blood sugar.
